I send my two children to a religious day school. Can I claim a charitable contribution deduction the portion of the tuition related to their religious education?

Unfortunately, no. The courts have been very clear on this point. No deduction can be claimed when a donor receives something of value equal to the supposed donation. The payment of tuition is, in effect, a quid pro quo (getting something — religious schooling — for the payment), so no deduction can be claimed.
