My medical costs were paid by the Christian Health Care Ministries Program. Can I deduct these costs?

Christian Health Care Ministries Program is a faith-based cost-sharing program for medical expenses. Payments from the program are treated like insurance reimbursements, so because your medical expenses have been covered, you have no out-of-pocket costs to deduct.

Itemized deductions

Items, such as interest, state and local income and sales taxes, charitable contributions, and medical deductions, claimed on Schedule A of Form 1040. Itemized deductions are subtracted from adjusted gross income to arrive at taxable income. The amount of itemized deductions is also subject to a reduction when adjusted gross income exceeds certain limits.
